About Math Tutor Manning
Welcome to Math Tutor Manning
Your go-to adventure guide for expert math tutoring!
For Mr. Manning, teaching has never been just a job. It’s been a way to connect with people, help them figure things out, and give them the confidence to tackle challenges that may initially seem difficult.
A longtime member of the Tahoe community, Mr. Manning has taught both in the classroom and in the great outdoors. Before becoming a teacher, he was a ski instructor, Camp Director at Eagle Lake, and owner/operator of Huck’s Adventures, a backpacking and adventure company at Donner Summit. Those experiences taught him that everyone learns differently, and that patience, creativity, encouragement, and a good sense of humor can make all the difference.
He went on to earn his Master’s in Education from Sierra Nevada College, now UNR at Lake Tahoe, and spent more than three decades teaching mathematics and statistics at Incline High School.
Whether a student is struggling with a concept, preparing for a test, catching up, or simply trying to make math finally click, Mr. Manning takes a personal, practical approach. He gets to know how each student thinks, finds the approach that works for them, and builds understanding and confidence along the way.
Former students still remember him years and even decades later, describing him as patient, inspiring, engaging, and the teacher who made them love math.
Now retired from the classroom, Mr. Manning is excited to keep doing what he loves: helping students find their way, discover what they’re capable of, and gain the confidence to keep going.
Sometimes you just need someone who knows the terrain, is willing to slow down, and can help you find your way.
